Mark 6
I don't have power yet...but Jesus does! I don't know if or when I'll be able to get back to the blog (thanks Joe and Vicky for access to a computer!), but I wanted to open up a Mark 6 stream. Feel free to leave your thoughts. It's more good stuff!

Well, this week is a reminder that the One who can command both the winds and the sea is mighty indeed! This country has just had 2 major hurricanes that ended up less powerful and damaging than was initially predicted. I cannot help but believe that was due to the prayers for mercy from GOD's people. And the winds here in town were an interesting taste of what it is like for our brothers and sisters on the coasts. I pray that this experience will cause folks to surrender to the ONE who can calm the storm with only a word.
Great words dougnfrankie. Things were not nearly as bad as they could have been. We should be thankful.
FYI, I'll be speaking this weekend about what I believe is the greatest challenge that can face a believer, rejection at home. This is presented in this week's readings from Mark and Matthew. If you have specific questions or experiences you may want to share, I'll try to address them this weekend.
Mark 6:34 is one of my favorite verses. "When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things."
hey mark 6 and Matthew 10 are some great chapters that show that short-term mission trips are biblical. I love that after Jesus gave orders to the apostles the Text says, " So the disciples went out, telling everyone they met to repent of their sins and turn to God. And they cast out many demons and healed many sick people, anointing them with olive oil" (Mk.6:12-13NLT). I just get the sense that those twelve guys, which included Judas, were acting in simple faith to accomplish God's purpose. God's purpose is allows the same no matter the circumstance, Bring Glory to Himself. But He does that in so many ways it is truly awesome. How He takes what appears to be chaos and random things (stuff, action) and works it all for his good purpose.
I decided to try this blog thing again. My first attempt didn't go so well. I have, however, enjoyed the reading and must say that I have missed Carl this week. Hope everything is okay.
Mike, I am looking forward to your message Sunday. I did not come from a Christian home, but God placed me in a neighborhood with some great Christians who invited me to church. At first, my mom was happy because my neighbors were happy. That happiness ended has I began wanting to participate in church activities that extended beyond Sunday morning. My pastor explained to me that she was probably feeling guilty because she was feeling His calling in her heart and did not want to answer. He told me that I was to obey my parents and hang on until I was old enough to leave the situation. I left home at 19 under not so good circumstances and worked hard to not sever our relationship completely. She knows that God is first in my life but still tries to make me feel guilty and interfere with me and my kids attending church. For years I felt responsible for changing her life until you taught me that it is not left up to me. What a relief! I still struggle with "why me?" not in the sense of not coming from a Christian home but in the sense of why did I hear and respond to His calling and not my family?

Joe/vicky= hey thanks for sharing. I sort of thought you were really Vicky. It good to have you on board. Bring on Carl, I miss him too.
