Mark 7
The first reading for this week is actually associated with Mark 6. I had too many good things related to Mark 6 to fit into a week, so I figured we could simply run into this week. Day two's reading finally gets us to Mark 7. The chapter starts with some good teaching about the dangers of tradition. Can anyone relate to that? I know our church is young, but these problems can take hold quickly if we are not careful. I pray our hearts will always pursue the will of the Lord alone.

I think that Jesus did some of these things because it was what people needed to see. Plus, that's all the pharisees ever did was yammer on about rules. I believe that people needed absolute proof, even though Jesus told them time and time again.
So these methods of healing helped confirm that. The loaves and the fish certainly helped as well. These were all things that Jesus did. But that's what I theorize anyway...
Jesus operated in the spiritual, but HE knew that we couldn't understand what we couldn't experience sensorially. I think that's why HE consistently used such concrete and physical examples. I can't help but giggle at HIS discussion with Peter about how food goes in one end and out the other to bring home the point that unholiness is a spiritual event not caused by the physical. Good thing HE didn't use White Castles for that example!!!(HeeeHee!)
When I read the passage from Isaiah, I thought about J's talk when he mentioned the current trend to find the "historical" Jesus. There is much danger in removing the divinity from Christ. Isaiah seems to be speaking about this. The danger in this comes through when reading from Matt 15 when Jesus says, "If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit." That's a warning to leaders and to followers.
I agree, people just have to accept that some things happens. It's that simple.
Alot of people always tries to flood the world with nothing but logic. Logic fails in the end if you ask me.
