Kingdom Currency

Jeremy is taking us through a teaching series on Sunday mornings called "Kingdom Currency." The reading plan for this is posted on the church site (www.fourseasonschurch.org). The series will take three weeks. Money is usually not fun to talk about, but good stewardship can prove to be very rewarding and a source of joy. I'm sure J will post some discussion questions along the way, so check in periodically to see what's new.

why did Jesus talk so much about money? It seems he talked more about money than he did about prayer, heaven and grace. The next few week we will explore why Jesus talked about money and what it means for us.

As I was reading the Matthew passage, I was thinking, this could be taken 2 ways: to learn to be good stewards of our money, but to also make the most of our talents God has given us.

Bob, you are right. the word talent is very interesting. The NIV Study note gives this background information about the word. "Talent. The term first used for a unit of weight (about 75 pounds), then for a unit of coinage. The present day use of "talent" to indicate an ability or gift is derived from this parable.

The readings seem to go from money to Spiritual things. How is this going to tie together?

It amazes me how we are faithful to trust the Lord in so many ways yet forfeit the blessing of trusting Him with our money. If all things are truly subject to Him, isn't He worthy of our trust? If we are willing to trust Christ for our eternal salvation, doesn't it just make sense to trust Him today? This principle applies to more than just financial stewardship. I know it is easier said than done, but we need to realize that our eternal, abundant life begins not when we die, but when we believe.

Just a money thought I always try to tell myself...
The Lord can only fill an open hand!

Today we moved our church's building fund money into a new account. While that isn't really any interesting news, seeing the amount we have saved did remind me to be thankful. Thankful to God and thankful for a generous congregation.

God, You are generous and You see the faithfulness of Your people. You have blessed us and in Your time You will prosper us. For this I give thanks.
