Hebrews 7
Well, no sermon this week from Hebrews 7, so the blog is your best chance to get answers you may have re: this chapter. Of course, you can always comment on the other readings for the week as well. Have a great week!
I think this is just more scripture showing the ancestry of Jesus (like Matthew Chapt. 1). I have a hard time keeping all that straight but I think the purpose is just to show us that Jesus, the Perfect High Priest, gave His life, the Perfect Sacrifice, for our sins because He loves us so much. Hebrews and Leviticus is showing us how the old laws of priests offering sacrifices are no longer necessay. I think it's pretty cool how we are studying this during the Easter season too.
Something else that I have found interesting is how the old laws that we read about in Leviticus show us how God was taking care of his people. I'm sure the Isrealites oftened wondered why God had so many rules about cleanliness. We know today the problems that mildew can cause and how germs are spread through contact with body fluids. We have mask and latex gloves and many, many rules and procedures in hospitals to protect both patients and caregivers. I have always thought that doctors and scientist through the years had discovered and implemented all of this. God taught the Isrealites this over 1400 years B.C.!

How does the reading in Genesis fit in?
