Okay, we had our first blank week last post. Let's all commit to doing better.

Just thought about this--since the Jewish faith does not accept Christ as Savior and they are still waiting for a savior, do they still offer sacrifices?

I can't think of where Jesus said this, but didn't he say he was the only way, that there is no other way to the Father but by Him? Jeremy, you probably know the verse, you are good at where these things are at.

No, present day Jews do not offer sacrifices. I'm not sure how they justify that theologically but I'm sure they have some way of organizing it. Someone else may know more. I'll see if I can find anything. Unfortunately, many modern Jews only maintain Judaism as a cultural identity. I heard a professor say that Israel is one of the most secular countries on earth. This trend is mostly a result of the Holocaust. Many lost their "faith" as a result of it.

There are a few verses that speak of Jesus as the only way to God. John 14:6 says, "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No comes to the Father except through me.'" Also, 1 Timothy 2:5 says, "For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."

Romans 9-11 also speaks about the relationship between Israel and the Gospel.

It seems sacrifices are no longer offered because it is believed that the Temple is (or was) the only acceptable place to make such sacrifices (this is Biblical). So, since the destruction of the Temple in AD 70, sacrificing has ended. With no Temple, Jews are operating in a sort of "exile" mode (similar to the Babylonian exile), awaiting the restoration of the Temple by the Messiah.

Also, there is no longer a priesthood to offer sacrifices. Rabbis are not the same as priests.

That's very interesting and very sad at the same time. They understood the Old Testament laws and knew scripture but somehow missed Jesus. They must wonder about sins, at least those who still study the Bible.

with as many Old Testament prophicies that were fullfulled by Jesus, how did they miss him? I wonder the same thing with Moslems. One thing I think people miss is Jesus did not have to be an earthly king. Everything in the world belongs to Him already.
